Glutinous Corporations

No one likes any kind of writing about those among us who are suffering. This poem is not yummy, fun, nice, interesting, or etc.  Most of you will not  read this because then you will have to think about other people and what they are going through. For instance we don’t see the homeless because we are so busy talking or texting with our newest “toy”.  We are sad about people in the third world but not about those that live among us because …..?

Mega companies,
Glutinous corporations
Make profits galore.

People with sad eyes
See the economy tank,
Choosing food or meds.

The government gives
and also takes help away
To keep people down.

Sit in cold darkness
And in the heat of the day,
Hungry and depressed.

Does anyone care?
The prices and profits rise,
The gap grows wider.

Tears pour forth and life
Deteriorates for all.
Help? Is there any?

Fiery Furious Love

Many people are curious what inspires writers and artists.  I saw a program last year about a mama cheeta leading her cub (8 wks?) to a safer place.  She would walk a few paces then stop, scan the landscape for predators and dangers.  This gave the toddling cub a chance to catch up with her.  This scene percolated for a long time and then I wrote this poem about God leading us.  Each verse is a different attribute of God.

Wild, untamed, feral,
His steely eyes scan the land,
As He makes His way.

With His fiery sword
He gently leads us through the
Perilous landscape,

Alert for hidden,
Hungry predators who watch
For slow easy prey.

Mighty, Powerful,
Like mothers’ defending young,
He protects His own.

Lovingly He shields
An safeguards us as we are
Wobbling behind.

Glorious Chocolate

Welcome to my new blog.  My nom de plume is Lovelace as I am a descendent of the Lovelace family and I love writing haikus.  Haikus are the minimalist style of poetry.  I am also a visual artist so the haikus will have a lot of imagery in them.  Some of the haikus will have illustrations to go with them and I will post them too.  I am writing a series of poems with each verse a haiku.  These are about my journey out of a difficult childhood that caused severe depression.  But this first single haiku will start everyone with a treat.  Enjoy.

Luscious chocolate.
Wraps itself around your tongue
Then proceeds to dance.

Love chocolate in any form so don’t get in my way when it’s within sight!
